MRI Jersey
About

A private MRI clinic, run locally for Jersey

MRI Jersey was founded to make private MRI in the Channel Islands affordable, accessible and genuinely local. Fixed £295 per joint. Consultant-reported. No flight to the UK needed.

Our mission

We exist to provide fast, fixed-price, consultant-reported MRI scans of the upper and lower limb joints, without anyone having to leave Jersey. Every scan is £295. Every scan is reported by a consultant musculoskeletal radiologist via TMC, the reporting service used by more than 50 NHS hospitals across the UK. Every patient is seen by an experienced MRI radiographer — not a third party, not someone on rotation, but a small, consistent local team.

Why we were founded

The idea came from Jonathan Ruff, who repeatedly heard the same story from physios, patients and clinicians in Jersey — that MRI was the test that would actually answer the question, and that islanders were being priced or queued out of it. Working with chartered physiotherapist and director Paul Deveney, who has more than thirty years' experience in musculoskeletal care, and with clinical advisor Paul Davies BDS, MRI Jersey was set up to remove that barrier. Lead radiographer Rachel Carlotti — who brings more than twelve years of MRI experience and an MSc from the University of Bradford, alongside a long background at Jersey General Hospital — leads the scanning service day to day.

A community service, not a chain

MRI Jersey is independent and locally owned. We are not part of a UK chain bolted on to the island. The decisions about how the service runs, what it costs and how patients are looked after are made here, by people who live here. That matters when you are trying to fit a scan around school pick-up, harvest season at work, or a half-term week of sport.

Where to find us

MRI Jersey is based at TambaBowl, Waterfront Centre, La Route de la Libération, in the heart of St Helier. Our open extremity scanner sits within easy reach of the town centre and Liberation Station, with parking available nearby. Scans are booked, performed and reported quickly, often within the same week.

What we don't do

We are upfront about what we are. We have a dedicated open extremity MRI scanner. It is purpose-built for joints of the limbs — knee, ankle, wrist and elbow. We do not scan the spine, abdomen, brain, breast, or full body. If you need that kind of imaging, we will say so plainly and point you to the right service.

What's next

Our focus over the next few years is consistent: keep the price fixed at £295, keep the waiting time short, keep the reporting standard high, and keep the service local. If you have an idea of how we can serve Jersey better, we would genuinely like to hear it. Get in touch.
